Dynstar Gypsy Cobs

About Dynstar Farms & Gypsy Cobs

Dynstar Farms is located in the beautiful Foothills of Alberta, just a short drive southwest of Calgary.

We have been around horses most of our lives but it wasn’t until about 5 years ago that we decided to purchase our first two Gypsy Cob mares.  Since then we have added to our herd and raised a few foals.  Our mare herd has grown and we now have two young stallions growing up here at Dynstar Farms, one of which was imported directly from a very reputable breeder in the U.K.

We strive to breed proper, heavy and hairy Cobs as we believe the breed should be preserved just as they have been in the U.K. and Ireland since the 1850’s.

The breed is known for their sweet and gentle temperaments as well as their trainability.  They truly are a joy to be around and are typically very friendly and love humans.  They love to have all of their masses of hair brushed and you will find it very therapeutic spending time with these amazing creatures.

Their average size is between 13-15 hands although you can find some below or above that size range.

Gypsy Cobs come in a plethora of colors but you may know them mostly for their traditional black and white tobiano pattern. Whatever the color, they never cease to impress you with their fantastical beauty and spirit.

We usually do have some foals born every spring and some of those will be seeking forever families.  We also usually have some older Cobs for sale from time to time as well.

Our Cobs are registered with the GVHS, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, barefoot hoof trims, natural dentistry, etc.  They are well handled and trained for age appropriateness.  They are accustomed to travelling in the horse trailer and going into barns and through small doorways.  The breed is generally very willing to please their owner no matter the task.

Our horses are naturally raised and 100% pasture kept.  We feel this lifestyle is natural for the horse and makes for happier, healthier horses.  Gypsy Cobs are very hardy and accustomed to damp, cold climates and they thrive in this type of environment and tend to prefer it.
